Water

If you ask most beauty experts their number one piece of beauty advice, you will probably hear, "Drink lots of water!" Hydration is so important to ever cell in our bodies. There really is no substitue for water as caffinated, sugary or chemical-laden (such as diet) drinks really rob our body of many of the benefits of pure water.

Sometimes it is hard to drink enough because water doesn't "taste good" to us. Slices of citrus (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit or some combination of these) floating in your water might give it the kick you need to make it more inviting. Or for an unusual and refreshing alternative, try slicing a chilled cucumber into your water. (Don't forget to save a couple slices for a cooling puffy eye treat!)

Another common reason for not drinking enough is simple business or forgetfulness. Make a habit of drinking you 64+ daily ounces by setting a pitcher out on the counter, lining up 8 glasses as a visual reminder to count down through the day, or by setting a timer for hourly drinks.

As you hopefully have noticed by now, our Virtual Spa Weekend is as much about our souls as our bodies. Just as it is important to train ourselves to stay physically hydrated, it is equally important to make a habbit out of daily refreshing our spirits with Living Water too! What is your plan to make sure you nourish your spirt as well as your body? Please add a comment to share your ideas for getting enough water or Water, be it inviting ways to drink or "quiet time" suggestions or other tips or methods of nurturing your life, both physical and spiritual. I always love learning new ideas!

On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as[a] the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

- John 7:37-39 (New International Version)

After I clear up the breakfast dishes, I pour myself my 1st glass of water. If I don't do it right away in the morning, I'll often forget to drink water most of the day.

Also, DH is good about drinking lots of water at work, but at home on the weekends he is out of routine. So I bring him a glass of water when I pour myself one. He really appreciates it.

What an encouragement to not only nourish our bodies with water but our souls with the Water of the Word! When I first came to Christ one of my favorite songs was "As the dear panteth for the water so my soul longeth after Thee" I wish that was as true today as it was then! May we all thirst for Him!

I hate drinking plain water. So, to "trick" myself, I use some crystal light flavoring that is supposed to have additional vitamins in it and add that to my water. I put it in a tall container and take it to work and sip on it throughout the day.

Something that I try hard to do to "refresh" my spirit is even if everything is not in order with my house (dishes in the sink, not every "to-do" item crossed off my list for that day, etc...) I allow myself to still do something that is fun or relaxing for myself. I am still working on doing this without feeling guilty though :)
